Congratulations Pinar!

Congratulations to Pinar Uskaner on the successful defense of her Master's Project, "HRAMetroHealth: Health Risk Assessment System" in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at CWRU!

The abstract of her work is below.

Abstract

In order to reduce the annual incidence of lifestyle-based causes of death, it is essential to understand the contribution of lifestyle factors that are potentially under the control of the individual and those that may be amenable to social, medical or pharmacological interventions. The health risk appraisal (HRA) can be an important tool in assessing the impact of these precursors of disease and trauma. In this project, we describe a web-based multi-platform application, called HRAMetroHealth.

The HRAMetroHealth system employs statistical methods to predict various health risks for
diseases (such as lung cancer, heart attacks, or type 2 diabetes) associated with lifestyle. The system allows patients to take multiple questionnaires, assesses their health risks, and reports them In addition, the system is designed to provide data analytics (for doctors) by employing multiple questionnaires of the patient, and/or comparing with the population-at-large, or a specific group of patients. And also, the correctness of computational results is tested by multiple test case inputs and their results.
